For those of you who have been following me, you may know that I was training the past few weeks for a 5K in my area… I did it! Side note: I was chief planner/maid of honor/partier for my sisters bachelorette party the weekend before, so I kind of got off track a little bit, but it it’s okay! I made it! And I’m back writing on my blog! I’ve never felt so happy running with so many encouraging people, the sun shining, and the beach. Endorphins are a real thing.
I took a little break from writing to read and think about my personal life choices. I’ve learned a lot these past few weeks about following my intuition and trusting my gut feeling, because at the end of the day, that’s really all I have. Sad, I know. I was always listening to what other people said, getting advice and opinions for others… etc…etc but not really listening to myself. What I didn’t realize is that I know what I want or need and the answers are within myself.
My mission for my blog is to become my most authentic self (this is a work in progress) and inspire others to do the same. I focus on holistic nutrition and try to stay as natural and down to earth as possible. Yoga, greens, vegetables, and yes wine and chocolate all help me do this. But, I still have my vices and have a tendency to over-do it whether it is overworking out or overeating. Hey, a girls gotta eat!! Gone are the days when I used to worry about calories or feel guilty about eating something. GONE. Now I just work out extra harder or try to eat better the next day.
Nobody should live in constant fear or eat-starve-workout-binge mode, this doesn’t work, but sadly I have experienced this and see it all of the time. This is no way to live and I hope to change that through my own efforts and writing. But that is not enough.
Let me tell you a secret. I am letting go of my 9-5 to start taking classes on nutrition. There are so many nutrition schools, holistic schools, and online courses out there it is extremely difficult to choose! And also, I don’t want to spend all of my savings going back to school and receiving a degree just yet. I found a free nutrition course online through coursera. A professor from Vanderbilt University is teaching the online course and it is a great introductory course to learn more about nutrition and making healthy food choices. From there, I plan on taking more courses, practice yoga more- yoga teacher training, expand on my blog and turn it into a more lucrative business. How? This isn’t all figured out yet but I have the vision and ideas on how to get there.
I was also contemplating the Institute of Integrative Nutrition… Or a holistic school… It’s still a work in progress, and I don’t really know where I am going from here, but I know I want to learn, build my own knowledge and help others do the same. “I don’t know where I’m going from here but I promise it won’t be boring.” -David Bowe
